Fields of Cooperation

Regular political dialogue in bilateral and multilateral format (Republic of Armenia is identified as a partner country in National Security Concept of Georgia).

Cooperation in the spheres of trade, transport, energy, communication, tourism, etc.

Bilateral economic cooperation between Georgia and Armenia are basically centred on the fields of energy and transport. By the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Georgia, Armenia and Iran, an agreement was reached on transmission of electric power from Iran to Georgia through Armenia and insuring the operation of Georgian and Armenian energy systems in parallel regime. Georgia and Armenia cooperate in constructing high voltage transmission facilities and thermo electric power stations.

Of great importance is cooperation in the sphere of tourism. Development of tourism is largely due to new transport routes put into operation.

Economic cooperation between the two countries is mainly in the field of trade. Basic Georgian imports from Armenia include products of chemical industry, electric power, steel pipes and other steel constructions, coffee, mineral and fizzy waters, cement. Basic Georgian exports to Armenia include foodstuffs, wheat, oil and oil products, mineral and chemical fertilizers.

Regional cooperation between Georgia and Armenia is also very important. Two countries actively cooperate in such regional forum as the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
