Ambassador's Welcome Speech

As the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, it is both an honor and a privilege to address you. Our two nations, bound by centuries of shared history and deep-rooted friendship, stand together as beacons of cooperation and mutual respect.

The centuries-old tradition of good neighborliness, friendship, and cooperation between Georgians and Armenians is an unprecedented example in the history of the world. Many prominent Armenian public figures have expressed special love for Georgia. These include Naghash Hovnatan, Sayat Nova, Shamchi Melko, Khachatur Abovyan, Avetik Isahakyan, Gabriel Sundukian, and, of course, Hovhannes Tumanyan. Similarly, Armenia has been praised by many classics of Georgian literature.

We should proudly underline that the extent of the cooperation between our countries is at its historical maximum, in politics, economy, culture, energy, tourism, and other spheres. Starting from July 1, 2023, citizens of Georgia and Armenia have the privilege to cross the border without passports, only with biometric ID cards, further strengthening and deepening the cooperation and friendship between Georgians and Armenians.

In recent years, the frequency and depth of our bilateral discussions at various levels have been extraordinary. These exchanges have not only strengthened our bonds but have also paved the way for us to elevate our relationship to a new and promising height – the High-Level Dialogue on Strategic Issues. This platform represents our shared commitment to advancing our partnership and addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Today, more than ever, our region is at a crossroads where peace and stability are of paramount importance. As close neighbors and allies, Georgia and Armenia play a crucial role in fostering security and cooperation in our region. Our efforts towards maintaining peace are not just vital for our nations but also serve as a model of regional collaboration.

Furthermore, the close trade and economic ties between our countries are a testament to our enduring partnership. I proudly declare that trade relations have reached unprecedented levels, evidenced by the doubling of our trade turnover in recent years. This remarkable growth underscores the immense potential and mutual benefit inherent in our economic relationship. We place great importance on further developing these ties, as they are not only beneficial for our economies but also for the well-being of our people. The growth of our economic and trade relations is a priority, and we are committed to exploring new avenues and opportunities for mutual benefit.

In conclusion, let us continue to work hand in hand, building on our historic friendship and moving towards a future of shared prosperity and peace. As the Ambassador of Georgia to the republic of Armenia, I am ready to dedicate my efforts to this noble cause and look forward to a fruitful tenure.
